Mild spoilers ahead for Wicked.

It’s giving… Wicked. This year’s holiday hot topics include what’s next for Ariana Grande and what we should invent for Ariana Grande— okay, I’ll admit it: we’re just talking about Ariana Grande at the table. Wicked has taken over our lives for the past week, and what better way to get our minds off the movie for a moment than by thinking about what’s to come in the second half? In a way, this Wicked press season is its own part one, an appetizer if you will, as I predict next year’s press cycle would’ve worked out all the kinks from the first — maybe we won’t be holding space for “Defying Gravity” anymore and making room for “For Good” — so there might be less tears but more “theater kids belting it out at a Dennys” vibes. Here’s everything the mighty Wizard (Universal Pictures and co.) have shared about the upcoming sequel.

There are at least two new songs, confirmed by both director Jon M. Chu and composer Stephen Schwartz. Schwartz explained the decision to The Messenger in 2023, “The storytelling required it, and therefore they were created—the intention was that they were organic and not imposed on the movie.” It’s too late to make this request but more Jonathan Bailey please.

Wicked: Part Two plays out at the same time as the events of The Wizard of Oz, and in the latter, we meet Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, and the Tinman. While the stage show doesn’t emphasize Dorothy—she’s only a silhouette or a voice-over at times—the movie could change that. Plus, it would be fun to see the foreshadowing from the first film play out as it’s revealed who Dorothy’s friends are from Elphaba’s past. Fellow Ozians are already speculating on who Dorothy could be, but nothing is confirmed.

Get ready for another Turkey season filled with finger-holding as Wicked: Part Two comes to theaters on November 21, 2025. Hopefully, the next press tour will be just as, if not more, emotional.
