Travis Kelce trolled by ‘Jeopardy’ clue: ‘Maybe more famous as a BF’
Travis Kelce is catching more than footballs these days — he’s also catching strays on Jeopardy.
During the long-running game show’s episode on Wednesday, the series threw some shade at the Kansas City Chiefs star tight end with the $200 clue in the category “The TV Show in Question.” It read, “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? is hosted by this man who’s maybe more famous as a BF than as a 3-time Super Bowl champ.”
Contestant Derek Hieronymus, a sales director from Hutto, Tex., didn’t skip a beat with his correct answer of, “Who is Travis Kelce?”
The Jeopardy clue was of course referring to Kelce’s much-publicized relationship with 14-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift, as well as his recent stint as host of the new game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? on Prime Video.
That show is a spinoff of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, which was hosted by Jeff Foxworthy on Fox from 2007 to 2009 and in syndication from ’09 to ’11.
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are you Smarter than a Celebrity?” Kelce said in a statement released to Entertainment Weekly at the time of the show’s announcement. “The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
In addition to his record-breaking football career and his new hosting gig, Kelce also recently made his small-screen acting debut in Ryan Murphy horror series Grotesquerie.
As for his relationship with Swift, the couple famously started seeing each other after Kelce publicly stated on his New Heights podcast in July 2023 that he had tried — and failed — to connect with Swift at her Eras Tour show in Kansas City via a friendship bracelet he made with his phone number on it.
Apparently his podcast comments didn’t go unnoticed, because rumors swirled all that cruel summer that the two were dating. The duo first officially stepped out together at Kelce’s Chiefs game on Sept. 24, where Swift was seen cheering him on alongside his mother, Donna.
