Nikki Garcia and ‘DWTS’ pro Artem Chigvintsev settle their divorce
Former WWE star Nikki Garcia — previously known as Nikki Bella — and Dancing With the Stars alum Artem Chigvintsev have settled their divorce.
“Nikki and Artem have settled their divorce and will not be going to court,” a representative for Garcia said in a statement. “Both parties decided to drop the domestic violence restraining orders against each other in an effort to move on with their lives and effectively co-parent their son. Nikki’s number one priority has always been her son and privacy on the matter. She is thankful for all of the love and support she has received during this difficult time.”
EW reached out to Chigvintsev’s team for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.
The couple were paired together when Garcia was a contestant on the reality show in 2017 and he was a pro. In 2019, they confirmed that they were in a relationship, after she ended her engagement to wrestler John Cena the previous year.
Garcia and Chigvintsev welcomed a son, Matteo, in 2020, and they married two years later.
She filed for divorce in September, less than two weeks after Chigvintsev was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence on Aug. 29 at their California home.
The Napa County district attorney announced in September that her office would not file charges.
“While we take every arrest seriously and stand firmly against domestic violence, we have an ethical obligation to only file charges when supported by the evidence,” District Attorney Allison Haley said in a statement. “We are required to prove any and every criminal charge ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ which is the highest standard in the American criminal justice system. If the available evidence doesn’t rise to this level of proof, then we cannot ethically file charges.”
The split had turned contentious at times, with Garcia having sought full custody of their son and Chigvintsev seeking joint custody. Both spouses had requested and were granted restraining orders against the other, PEOPLE reported in October.

Chigvintsev is not a part of the current season of Dancing With the Stars. EW learned in August that the decision for Chigvintsev to sit out the season was made prior to his arrest.
