Most New Yorkers don’t spend their lives on the waterfront (except, of course, a lucky few), but we are frequently reminded that the city is surrounded by water when we catch sight of one of its many bridges. Even for the jaded among us, the experience seldom fails to offer a jolt of inspiration. For the cover of the November 25, 2024, issue, Javier Mariscal took one of the signature views of the city, the Manhattan Bridge as seen from Brooklyn, and depicted it as a testament to the city’s creative spirit.
