Jamie Foxx is once again showing off his resilience following a reported altercation at his Dec. 13 birthday dinner.

The 57-year-old actor and comedian was dining with his family at Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills when police responded to reports of a possible assault with a deadly weapon.

In a news release obtained by Entertainment Weekly, the Beverly Hills Police Department said officers arrived at the scene around 10:06 pm and determined that the report of an assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded, instead declaring the incident a physical altercation between parties at the restaurant.

“The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery,” the release stated, adding that “no arrests were made.”

Mr. Chow did not immediately respond to EW’s request for further information.

Though the police report did not mention Foxx by name, a spokesperson for the actor confirmed that he did suffer an injury from the altercation to PEOPLE.

“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” said a representative for the Oscar winner. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”

Foxx was photographed attending the celebration with his daughters, Corinne and Anelise, and his ex Kristen Grannis. Though the actor has yet to address the incident directly, he did take to social media to reaffirm his recovery and thank his fans for their well-wishes.

“The devil is busy, but I’m too blessed to be stressed,” he wrote Sunday on his Instagram Stories. He then reposted the same phrase to his main Instagram page with a longer caption.

“The devil is a lie,” he wrote. “Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me. When your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright.”

Representatives for Foxx did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

The incident at his birthday dinner comes after Foxx made his return to stand-up with his new Netflix special, What Had Happened Was. The hourlong performance features Foxx finally addressing the cause of his mysterious 2023 medical emergency, which led to a lengthy hospitalization. The actor disclosed that he suffered a brain bleed, which led to a stroke, causing him to lose 20 days of memory during his hospital stay.

“When I woke up, I found myself in a wheelchair,” he said in the special. “I couldn’t walk. In a wheelchair. And I was like, ‘What the f— , why am I in a wheelchair?'”

Foxx is now back in the public eye after months of recovering and physical rehab, but he initially kept a low profile. It wasn’t until three months after the incident that Foxx addressed fans directly with a self-recorded video message.

“I just didn’t want you to see me like that,” Foxx said at the time of his desire for privacy. “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show. I just didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”
