Chris Hemsworth could become Prince Charming for Disney live-action movie
Chris Hemsworth, with his Disney prince good looks, is on his way to becoming Disney’s next Prince Charming.
The Avengers and Transformers One star is reportedly in talks to headline a Prince Charming live-action movie directed by Wonka and Paddington filmmaker Paul King. Plot details have not been revealed, though Deadline reports the film will not be linked to Cinderella, despite that particular character being the Disney princess most often associated with the Prince Charming archetype.
EW reached out to reps for Disney and Hemsworth for comment.
Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden portrayed Kit, the Prince Charming of 2015’s live-action Cinderella, starring Lily James as the iconic princesses.
This is the latest move from Disney in broadening its vast library of iconic animated properties into the live-action space. The most recent one saw Halle Bailey take up the mantle of Ariel in The Little Mermaid (2023), while this year will see the Mufasa prequel movie, brought to life with photo-real CGI. Aaron Pierre, who just landed the coveted role of DC superhero John Stewart in HBO’s Green Lantern series, will voice a young Mufasa opposite Kelvin Harrison Jr. as a young Scar.
Next year will see even more of these titles hit the big screen between Snow White and Lilo & Stitch.
This year alone saw Hemsworth taking the antagonistic role of Dementus in the highly anticipated Mad Max prequel movie Furiosa, as well as the voice of a younger Optimus Prime in the animated Transformers One movie. EW confirmed earlier this year that the A-lister is also in talks to star in Paramount’s live-action crossover event film between the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises.

The next Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is also scheduled to start filming in 2025. However, it’s unclear if Hemsworth’s Thor presence will be needed for that entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
