For the cover of the November 11, 2024, issue, the cartoonist Barry Blitt focussed on the one thing that everyone, Republicans and Democrats alike, can agree on: The months leading up to the election have been rife with suspense. “Tightrope walkers at great heights make me extremely nervous,” Blitt said, “but all that pales next to how I feel about what’s at stake in this election.”
