As the 2024 Presidential race nears its end, the country seems more and more divided, with democracy hanging in the balance. For the cover of the November 11, 2024, issue, the cartoonist Barry Blitt focussed on the one thing that everyone, Republicans and Democrats alike, can agree on: The months leading up to the election have been rife with suspense. “Tightrope walkers at great heights make me extremely nervous,” Blitt said, “but all that pales next to how I feel about what’s at stake in this election.”
