Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw is branching out. For years, this Sex and the City character made a career out of covering her sex life and the sex lives of those around her. Now, she’s tackling fiction.

The new And Just Like That season 3 trailer dropped Tuesday, confirming that the successor series will return to HBO and Max with 12 new episodes starting on May 29. And change is coming for the leading ladies.

Carrie’s voiceover narration, which was all over the original Sex and the City, makes a significant comeback as she plots her next career move. Even though Carrie’s publisher, Amanda (Ashlie Atkinson), says, “Romantasy is very hot right now,” it won’t actually be romantasy the sex-columnist-turned-author will be writing. And, no, it won’t be titled Sex and the Cauldron, despite Amanda’s other suggestion.

The trailer confirms the main story will play out during one hot New York City summer (in the non-climate sense). Carrie is all set up at her new three-floor Gramercy Park home and has a complicated thing going on with Aidan (John Corbett), who returns in season 3 despite needing a five-year break from Carrie to focus on his sons.

And Just Like That also reveals the first looks at some of the new cast members, including Jonathan Cake (Stargirl, The Affair) as Carrie’s flirtatious next-door neighbor, Mehcad Brooks (Supergirl, Mortal Kombat II) as workplace eye candy for Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker), and Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade, The Invitation) as a new potential hunk for Seema (Sarita Choudhury).

Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) also hits the dating scene while getting progressively closer to Joy (Dolly Wells), a producer at the BBC we met in season 2. And Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is grappling with her daughter, Lily’s (Cathy Ang) new relationship with a male ballerina.

“The phrase that I would use for season 3 is ‘new,’” executive producer Michael Patrick King previously prefaced to Entertainment Weekly. “It’s new everything.”

What isn’t new are New York City’s rat population. Despite her luxurious outdoor space, Carrie isn’t immune.
