| Interush Race Car ready to practice |
Today started as a bright and sunny day, with near perfect race track conditions. As the day moved on, the track became overcast with a very light sprinkle of rain that has since stopped. The teams have all had two full practice sessions and qualifying started Friday afternoon at 15:00.
Although some of the crew has been here before, Team 3G and driver Stanton Barrett are competing at Motegi for the first time and they are working hard to quickly learn and balance the need for maximum grip into the corners, with minimal drag in the straight-aways. The team wants grip in the corners to maintain optimum speed without sliding and crashing into the wall at speeds of around 300 km/hr. But too much grip in the straight sections can slow overall speed. Trying to get the optimum balance, today the team has changed the racing cars’ gearing, installed new springs, and adjusted the cars’ aerodynamics.

Al Unser Jr and Stanton discuss
entering the track corners |
Veteran racer and two-time Indy500 Champion Al Unser Jr came by to talk with Stanton Barrett and offered some insights on how best to drive the track for maximum performance.
During qualification and practice, the primary objective was to continue to increase speed, which they achieved with each session on the track. However, Stanton has been very careful not to push the car too hard and risk an accident as two other cars that crashed did, which would have prevented the Interush car from competing on Saturday in front of millions of race fans in Japan, Taiwan, China and the United States. After all, the goal is continual improvement for the team and maximum brand exposure for Interush, plus PHYTTER, MySpeedwayRacer.com, iHealthCast.com and b88c.com
Saturday will be an exciting day of racing. Check back for a race report and photos and videos of the Interush race car, as seen by millions of people around the world.
